What To Expect

The land is amazing and wild and generous with many kinds of experiences. In the first years that we were living here in tents, we would often hear barred owls in the middle of the night settling their territorial boundaries over our heads. Frogs and crickets sang their song of increase as we cooked in an open fire. Some times the fireflies would light up the night so completely that they put fireworks to shame. One time a cat brought a baby rabbit into one of the tents, completely unharmed. Painted turtles wander the gardens. >Bears< are seldom seen but they are not afraid of us. The coyotes howl and laugh in an otherworldly melody. There are flowers and herbs and mushrooms in their season. There are also mosquitoes, ticks, wasps, snakes, and thorny, prickly, itchy plants. This place is a dream and it is also not for everyone. We are not hosts or entertainers, we are curators, in collaboration with others who want to love and enjoy this magic. We also have indoor spaces where workshops, trainings, and rituals sometimes happen. Unless you are here specifically for a fully clothed event, you may encounter naked people gardening, swimming, sunning, or playing. Please be respectful of others and of your own boundaries.

CAN I camp or stay ELSEWHERE AND JUST COME TO heartsong during THE times the experience i am attending is happening?

You can certainly seek housing or campsites off site. If you do camp on the land, we ask that you do so in designated camping zones as a safety measure. If you don’t have camping equipment, you may want to borrow, rent or purchase some from a friend or company before you arrive.  We simply ask that you arrive on time and stay the full length of the experience you are signed up for. You may go off site during breaks and for rest if you so please. With all of that said, please think of your stay at HeartSong as a sacred opportunity, and commit to being fully present and here the entire time your experience is happening.

I am arriving to the area EARLY, or am not expected to LEAVE UNTIL A FEW DAYS AFTER the experience ends that i am signed up for. WHEN CAN I ARRIVE AND HOW LONG CAN I STAY AT heartsong?

For those who prefer a more relaxed pace for arriving, grounding, setting up and transitioning out of your experience, please let us know if you are planning to do so. We will be happy to reserve a rental space for you for that time. We can not guarantee rental space will be available for your desired stay unless you reserve your space beforehand.

IS THERE FIRST AID ON SITE?

We do not currently provide first aid measures on the property. Please consider bringing your own first aid kit while staying here. We would be happy to direct you to local healthcare providers if you need assistance while here, but this is not a service we provide. Please expect to pay for services in whatever way you are covered to do so currently.

what are your bathroom and shower options?

We have one outdoor shower and two outhouses available for your use. Hand washing stations are found at the earthing village and nearby the cob temple.  We ask that attendees remain considerate of their consumption by reducing the number and length of showers while here. We also have a beautiful river which you may clean yourself in, however using soap in these waters is discouraged. We ask that these spaces be kept clean and clear of all personal items.

Will FOOD BE offered AT my experience?

Depending on the type of experience you will be having, we will either have or will not have food provided to you. If your experience includes meals, we have rotating cooks we call on to provide delicious, organic and seasonal meals to attendees. These skilled cooks utilize foods which are harvested, prepared, and served with love. These foods will be in line with the guiding principles of HeartSong, providing whole foods which nourish the body as a temple. We want our guests to feel truly nourished while here, which opens up paths to healing and happiness that we all are capable of walking. These meals will be colorful and vital, consisting of an abundance of seasonal local produce, whole foods, and herbal teas.  Please let us know in advance if you need allergen free foods, such as those free of gluten, soy, or peanuts, or if you have specific dietary needs, such as a vegan diet. Please prepare accordingly.  If you need additional substance please bring snacks that will keep you nourished while here. If your stay does not include meals, we encourage you to shop at our local co-op, which is five minutes away from the land.  Many choose to prepare food for lunch on their own during non-food provided stays.  A communal food share is a common practice for meals if they are not provided as part of your experience.

Please Remember

  • HeartSong is a place of healing and celebration.  And we do love to celebrate! With that said please be responsible if you you are planing an experience that might affect others. If you are going to make a LOT of noise, move powerful energy, or enter a state where you are not confident of your safety or your effect on those around you please share your plans, get consent from everyone that might be effected, and secure beforehand the support you need so that your experience is generative for everyone.

  • There is limited wifi and cell phone service. Verizon works best for cell phones. We encourage people to be offline and on land as much as possible. Please plan accordingly.

  • HeartSong operates on leave no trace principles. Pack out what you pack in. We will provide compost and recycling options, but please bring your own waste bag. You are expected to leave the land more maintained than you found it.

  • Many of the plants on the land are in their beginning phases of growing stable roots for future growth. Please do not harvest any plants unless you are signed up for an experience which guides you through wildcrafting or harvesting practices.

  • Please avoid bringing flammable items to HeartSong or using flame for personal use. Consider bringing solar lighting. Let’s keep our land free of potential fire hazard!

  • Children are welcome! Mamas with babies are encouraged to relax while here. It’s important that you are comfortable camping outdoors with your children if you are thinking about staying here during your experience.

  • Only bring dogs with you if they are social, friendly dogs who work well alongside other dogs and people. We have no gates on the land, so if your dog is off leash, please know that it is possible for them to take off unconfined.

  • Please explore this beautiful land with common sense in mind.

  • Drink plenty of water! There will be water for you to refill your water bottles on site. Use them and stay hydrated.

  • Earthing is a huge guiding principle here at HeartSong. Your stay here is a great time to take a few days away from your devices. We have been programmed to think we need certain things in order to survive, but we really need very little.  Let’s all enjoy the beauty of our time together, unplugged.
